Launched in 2001, Khorasan Steel Complex (KSC), a publicly traded company, is the largest steelmaker in eastern Iran.
In line with the Iranian government’s economic policy, which focuses on reaching industrial self-sufficiency and weaning the country from dependence on imports of strategic products, the company takes advantage of state-of-the-art technology, complies with national and international standards, when it comes to production and industrial management, and employs skilled technical workforce to produce a range of items such as rebar, billets, direct reduced iron (sponge iron) and briquette.
Khorasan Steel Complex Company is at the vanguard of employing modern technology in the industry sector, applying international standards and making top-quality steel products. The company’s current production capacity stands at 1.6 million tons of crude steel per year. (The rolling mill’s annual production capacity is 600,000 tons; Steelmaking Plants No. 1 and 2 produce 1.4 million tons; the production capacity of Sponge Iron Plants No. 1 and 2 stands at 1.6 million tons; and the Pelleting Plant has a production capacity of 2.5 million tons per year.) Khorasan Steel Complex has created 5,000 direct jobs and its products are used in the construction sector and development projects as well as in rolling companies.
